Make Your Blog Stand Out From The Rest
Do you keep a blog updated? If so, you know how important it is to keep the content fresh and entertaining. While it is easy to get wrapped up in the amount of content, you must remember that people should actually find your posts easy to read.
Readers who aren’t pulled in by what they are reading are likely to leave for another blog. Humor can help to keep people coming back, but it’s important to follow a few guidelines.
Be yourself. Many blog writers make the mistake of trying to write like someone else. You may be able to fool your readers a few times, but eventually you will look like a phony. It is best to use your own style.
Don’t try to mimic your favorite comedians. They have their own style, and you have your own style. Your own style is enough – it’s great to add humor but if you try to mimic another you will soon be considered a phony.
Perhaps you are worried that others may not appreciate your style of humor. Some won’t, and that’s ok. People who identify with your style will keep coming back. People who don’t will move onto another blog. But if you are not true to your own style, you are likely to lose the readers who identify with your style.
Consider your audience. You probably have a specific topic for your blog. You will also find that some readers come and go, but your most loyal readers will have a vested interest in your topic. Do your research on the general demographics of people who have an interest in your topic.
Don’t try to pander to your audience, but do take into consideration their feelings. It won’t help you to repeatedly offend them. You can be yourself and be considerate of your audience at the same time.
Read it out loud. Read your post out loud before posting it.
Reading your blog out loud before posting it can help to see how it really reads to others.
