Whether you have something to sell or you want to advertise, classifieds are the best way to get everyone’s attention.

There are many methods of posting classified ads. They can be put into your local paper, posted online, or even submitted to a magazine. No matter which method you choose these ads are a sure fire way of getting people to sit up and take notice.

The most important aspect of a classified ad is how you write it. If you don’t write out an effective ad then it is most likely that nobody will notice it.

Types of ads

The first thing that you need to do is decide on which category that your ad will belong to. There are several categories within any classifieds section and it is important to post your ad in the right location.

All help wanted ads will need to be posted into the employment section. Depending where you are posting there may even be sub categories within this area.

Anything that you have for sale will post in the for sale section. You will also need to look for sub sections like cars, furniture, or even clothing.

The services section will be where you post an ad explaining a service that you are offering. If you want to advertise that you are providing lawn mowing services then you need to post it in this section

Creating an effective ad

The best way to get people to pay attention to your classified ad is to know how to write it. There are many methods of creating effective ads.

Keep it short: When you write your ad be sure to keep it simple. Adding a bunch of unnecessary words will be discouraging to your readers.

Make words count: Make the most of your words. Each word that you use should have something to do with what you are trying to say. Be sure to include as much information as possible about what you are selling or the service you are offering.

Be honest: Don’t ever make people believe something that isn’t true. Lying to people about something you are selling can only lead to problems later on.

Proof read: Once you have your ad written be sure to double check it for any spelling errors or typos. You also want to ensure that you have used correct grammar.

Grab their attention: Use bold print or all caps in the title to help pull your reader in. You can also use words to grab your reader’s attention. Words like free or cheap are all the types of words that people are looking for when reading classifieds.

Classifieds are a great way for you to advertise without spending a lot of money. Most places will offer several different ad sizes as well as pictures and images that can be added to it. The important thing is that you draw your customers in with your posting.

Make sure that you include your contact information and sit back and wait for people to contact you. It will be surprising just how effective your classified ad turned out to be.
