I haven’t quite crystalized my thoughts on the subject just yet, but here goes.

Basically, everyone in internet marketing is doing the same thing.

They have a website, have a free offer, build a list and market to the list.

Now, I realize that this works very well for many marketers. But, I am noticing some interesting trends with my own sites. Such as, people sign up for my list but don’t open my emails (that could easily be my own fault).

On the other hand, most of my sales come from my websites (blogs).

My blogs are very interactive and have what I like to refer to as ‘high stickiness’. By stickiness I am not just referring to how long visitors stay on my site. ‘High Stickiness’ is when visitors bookmark your site or sign up for your RSS feed and keep returning to your site.

My most interesting statistics are how many visitors bookmark and return to my site (over 46% of my visitors add my site to their bookmarks and 77% of my traffic comes from these visitors).

These numbers are very significant.

The other remarkable item is how many people sign up for my RSS feeds.

This leads me to believe that while email marketing is not dead, it is important to understand how captivating your site/blog should be.

Recently, I saw a Forex site for sale. This site had, literally, no stickiness. I have no idea what the seller has in mind, other than to make money from selling these worthless sites.

This brings me to my point. My present thinking is that if you wish to be successful with internet marketing you need a site that your visitors want to read and to visit repeatedly. This is the real challenge.

Because, once you accomplish this things like driving traffic to your site should be relatively easy.
